Pooja Batra is an Indian model, actress, entrepreneur, host, producer, and RJ. She rose to fame after she won the Femina Miss India International in the year 1993. Batra was also among the semi-finalists in 1993 Miss International. After completing her education, she forayed into the Bollywood industry and acted in many movies.
Pooja Batra was born on 27 October 1976 (age 43 years; as in 2019) in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. She completed her graduation in Economics from Fergusson College, Pune and MBA in Marketing from Symbiosis International University, Pune. When she was in school, she was active in athletics. She used to participate in 200 and 400-meter sprint races. Pooja had represented her school in athletics at various national level races. Her mother was one of the top five Miss India participants in 1971, which encouraged her to go ahead in the same line. Therefore, inspired by her mother, she participated in Femina Miss in 1993. Pooja Batra was crowned Femina Miss India International; also, she was one of the semi-finalists at the Miss International beauty contest. After completing her education, she entered the Bollywood industry.

Pooja Batra was born into a Hindu Khatri Family to Ravi Batra, army personnel, and Neelam Batra, cosmetologist. She has two brothers. She was born into a family with an army background; and so, she attended twelve different schools in twelve years. As a child, she was a spoiled brat. Although she was born in Faizabad, she traces her roots back to Ludhiana, Punjab.
Pooja has been linked to actors, Armaan Kohli and Akshay Kumar.
In 2002, Batra tied the knot with Los-Angeles based orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Sonu S Ahluwalia. The duo, however, parted ways and Pooja filed for a divorce in 2011.
Pooja Batra was also in a relationship with actor Christian Middelthon from 2015 to 2017.
Pooja Batra married actor Nawab Shah in a hush-hush ceremony in Delhi on 4 July 2019.
Pooja Batra joined the modelling industry at a very young age. Her parents wanted her to complete her education and then join the glamour world; so, she worked as a part-time model to fund her education. When she was 18 years old, she took part in Femina Miss India and was crowned Miss India International. She started receiving movie offers while she was still in college; however, she wanted to complete her education first. She came into the limelight after she appeared in the television commercial for Liril soap.
She made her Bollywood debut in the year 1997 with the movie “Virasat” opposite Tabu and Anil Kapoor.
After working in “Virasat,” Batra acted in “Bhai.”
Apart from working in the mainstream cinema, Pooja has also appeared in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi movies. She made her debut in Malayalam movies with Chandralekha (1997), in Telugu with Greeku Veerudu (1998), and in Punjabi movies with “Killer Punjabi” (2016).
While she was married to Dr. Sonu S Ahluwalia, she joined the theatre in Los Angeles. In 2004, she acted in the movie “Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story,” which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2014, she started working as an RJ in the USA.
In 2016, she made her Hollywood debut with the movie “One Under The Sun,” which was also screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Pooja Batra is a lifetime member of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy of Film & Television. She was also a spokesperson of Head & Shoulders in India.
Pooja Batra owns a Harley Davidson Sportster 48.
